Step 2 - Choosing

      

Advertising Properties

Properties are advertised every 2 weeks. They are advertised in the following ways:

• Via Property Search on this website.
• In a newsletter available from The Cove Children's Centre on Sysonby Street, The Edge Children's Centre on Dalby Road, the Fairmead Centre and the Customer Service Desk at the Melton Library on Wilton Road
• Other locations may be added in the future.

The adverts tell you the landlord, location, size, rent and other features of the property to help you decide which properties are right for you.

Where available a photograph of the property or a similar house type is provided and you can access information about the local area and facilities.

The advert also tells you if there are any special requirements that the applicant must meet, such as age requirements and which band will be given priority for the property. If you are not in the band stated you may still apply for the property providing it is suitable for your family size.

A range of symbols are used to tell you about the property.

			The number of bedrooms in the property
			The property advertised is sheltered or extra care sheltered housing
			The minimum or maximum age that an applicant must be to apply for the property (age restriction will be displayed within the icon when viewed on the Property website or the Newsletter)
			The property has a garden
			Off road parking is available at the property

Expressing Your Interest in a Property

To apply for a property you must tell us that you wish to be considered for it. You may only apply for a property that is suitable for your family size. Click Step One-Registration for the maximum number of bedrooms that you are entitled to. In some circumstances it may be possible to apply for a smaller property than you are entitled to as long as this does not result in overcrowding.

You can express your interest or bid, as it is also known, in one of the following ways:

• Online through our website.
• By telephoning our 24hr automated bidding line on 0300 011 0129
• By text to our text line on 07537 402597

Properties available to rent are advertised from 00.01am on a Thursday to 23.59pm the following Wednesday every fortnight.

You will be able to bid for a maximum of 3 properties during the time they are advertised. Bids will not be accepted after midnight on a Wednesday. You will only be able to bid for a property that is suitable for your family size.

Properties Currently Available

As this is the first cycle of Choice Based Lettings from Melton Borough Council, an exception has been made on this occasion as some of our properties will not be advertised.  They have been forward let under the previous allocation policy but are still under repair and are not yet ready to occupy.
